VS Rao & KE Raman
This post isnt going to make much sense for non-BITSians ...
I am sure most of you must have heard about the start of construction at the proposed BITS, Pilani - Hyderabad Center. I was surprised and very pleased to hear that my favorite professor from Pilani, Dr. VS Rao has been named Director-Designate for the Hyderabad campus.
Which got me thinking of how much politics amongst the faculty mirrors/mirrored student politics (with splits across the Illad (Tamilians), Gults (Andhraites) and Choms (North Indians)). Look at who were the three Deputy Directors during Venky's term - KE Raman, VS Rao and LK Maheswari !
And now that VS Rao has his Directorship, I am sure that the BITS, Pilani - Tamil Nadu center cannot be far behind (with KE R as the director, no doubt !)

No wonder you are idea mani. By the way, what would be your reaction for a person who himself could not obtain PhD to become Director of a prestigeous institution?
Hmm, was wondering when this was going to be brought up ! No comments, other than the fact that KER now has a PhD.
When it materializes, where do u think BITS-TN will be located? Madurai? Gopalapuram?

It is amasing how anyone who could not complete Ph.D in thirty years could become a Deputy Director in an University.
Forget about Ph.d or no Ph.D. He is just not suitable to lead any institution.Basically he is an autocrat with rigid views. Ofcourse we must agree that academic contribution through published researh is essential for the head of an academic institution.
Wow, lots of people with a lot of strong feelings about KE Raman :-)

I wish he completes it in 2012 and earn a place in Guinness Book for himself and the Insti... for the 30 years long Ph.D

he came to our campus and introduced some stupidest rules..
He made our life horrible here :'(
the rules are so so so stupid..if i show this blog to my frnds they may not hesitate to write 'Banned Key Phrases' here ..
