Playlist Based Matching

Looking at the success of all of these online matching/dating services, I think there is a clear business case for a website that uses some cool technology to match people.

In the last few months, I have been seeing more and more ads for eharmony.com. They claim that they match people on 29 dimensions, such as, values, sense of humor and others.

However, from my perspective, I think the eharmony deal is hogwash because they are trying to get people to define their personalities by answering questions and of course they are'nt going to be honest !!!

The one thing that might really be representative of a person's personality is their taste in music.

Remember my post from a few days ago where I talked about an ipod exchange service ... Extending that concept to the dating game, what if there could be a website that looks at each user's ipod playlist (No. of songs, no. of popular songs, no. of unpopular songs, most played songs etc ...) and matches people on the basis on common tastes in music ?

I think it would be cool !!

If you search the archives of the NPR programme "Fresh Air with Terry Gross", you can hear an interview that she did with the founder of e-Harmony (a Christian preacher, I think) and she asks him some hard questions (about no capacity for matching up gays) amd she also interviews the rabbi who created speed-dating.
